Tony was born May 4, 1952, in Ringgold, Georgia. His parents were Richard Gurney Johnson and Willie Hazel Bennett. His known grandparents were Howard Arthur Johnson and Ida Lucille Johns on his father’s side, and Edgar Lee Bennett and Hassie May Llewellyn on his mother’s side.
